Policy Against Discrimination and Harassment

October 20, 2016
Central Christian University (the “University”) welcomes persons from all backgrounds and beliefs to join our educational community. We seek to create and foster a sense of community that facilitates the development, both personal and professional, of all of our members, including faculty, staff, and students. The University complies with federal, state, and local equal opportunity laws and strives to keep the University free from all forms of illegal discrimination and retaliation. The University is committed to providing equal opportunities for all persons and does not discriminate or retaliate on the basis of race, color, national origin, ancestry, creed, religion, citizenship or intended marital status, veteran status, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, pregnancy or parental status, marital status, age, disability, or any other status protected by law (“protected status”). This policy extends to admissions, employment, services, and educational programs and activities that the University operates. Harassment, whether verbal, non-verbal, or physical, that is based on any protected status constitutes a form of discrimination if it denies or limits a person’s ability to participate in or benefit from the University’s programs and activities.

Non-Discrimination and Non-Harassment Policies and Procedures

I. Non-Discrimination Policy
Central Christian University is an equal opportunity employer and educational institution. There shall be no discrimination against any employee, applicant for employment, or any student on any basis prohibited by law, including race, color, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, veteran status (disabled or Vietnam era), or disability. This nondiscrimination policy applies to all educational policies and programs and to all terms and conditions of employment, which include (but are not limited to): recruitment, hiring, training, compensation, benefits, promotions, disciplinary actions, and termination.

II. Non-Harassment Policy
It is the University's policy that all employees and students should be able to enjoy and work in an educational environment free from harassment of any nature. Therefore, harassment based on personal characteristics such as race, color, national origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, veteran status, or disability violates this policy. Harassment is defined as verbal or physical conduct that denigrates or shows hostility or aversion toward an individual, and that has the purpose or effect of creating an intimidating, hostile, or offensive employment or educational environment; or has the purpose or effect of unreasonably interfering with an individual's employment or academic performance.

The above policy has been adopted by the Board of Directors of Central Christian University on October 20th of the year 2016 and is effective immediately.
